Hey everyone. It’s been a little while. They say I shouldn’t say that in a post but that’s ok, you know it’s true. I have a few recent designs I need to share and I’ll get to that asap. My time is even more limited now that school has started. You might remember that I homeschool my son. Third grade has quite a bit more work than the previous 2 grades we’ve been through together but I cherish the time I get to spend with him.
A lot of my time over the last many months has been spent really learning all about personality types (I’m basically a geek about personality types and WOW I love profiling) and I was honored to have led a round table discussion about how your personality affects your work at the amazing annual event for bloggers called Blogfete. So fun. The other round table I led was about Branding and it’s basic design rules. I’m also a fanatic about rules. The ones that make sense that is.
So I am slowly learning that it’s pretty much standard that my personality type likes to procrastinate, work when the passion hits and go with the flow until the flow ends, usually abruptly. I’m slacking badly with client communication (which is a major guilt trip for me as I used to have a debilitating struggle with people pleasing) and it’s a huge effort for me to stay on task. Like my conversations, I bounce all over the place as the thoughts hit me. I dare say that it’s simply because there are so many great things out there to stimulate my mind. Though I absolutely love my work, to get work done I have to pump myself up, give myself deadlines, have someone who is depending on me, and have a completely quiet house (which happens on some weekends thanks to my awesome husband who takes our son out and about.)
I love to write. Truly. (yep, I just bounced to a new thought) I’m not that good at it, but I love to just babble on and on about stuff I’m passionate about when it comes to words on paper/screen. See, I’m actually doing it right now. Well, that and procrastinating. *sigh* And, because I’m a bit more introverted than extroverted, I’ve decided I’m going to work at getting out there more. Show my personal side instead of trying to only be business like (which I also think is important depending on the circumstance.) I Periscoped for a little bit just yesterday, silly as it was.
So, should I stick to my branding and talk about design topics alone? Not sure. I think it’s cool to hear about what’s happening in the life of the person behind the website. At the same time, yeah, most probably come to check out the designs. Jury is still out on that. So for now, I’ll stop bouncing around and get back to work.
Until next time… come hang out with me on instagram or facebook!
