As most of you know, I love to host parties and create fun atmospheres. I’ve done Valentines Banquets and Mother’s Day Brunches and all sorts of things, but I’ve never been “paid” for the food and decor I create.
This time was different! I just completed my first real catering job. A woman at David’s workplace asked if I’d be interested in catering a baby shower for a co-worker. I gave her some prices and she hired me! woohoo!
First thing was the Diaper Cake. The nursery theme is airplanes so they requested I add a plane to the top of the cake.
Per their request, the first tray consisted of spicy mini quiches and veggie tarts. (click on picture to see close-up)
The second tray was tortilla deli wraps and deviled eggs.
Lastly, I made a fruit salad in the bowl of a watermelon shaped like a baby carriage. I think it came out pretty decent.Whew!
Upon enlarging the “cake” picture I realized it is disposable diapers trimmed with ribbon; very unique idea, the airplane is a nice touch since that’s the nursery theme.
The food looks very scrumptious and I like the twirl with the deviled eggs. My favorite is the baby carriage watermelon.
I believe you will be asked to cater more functions!
the watermelon looks so cool! Good job girly!
Good job photographing these Michele.
