HI! *wave* We have enjoyed our summer filled with fun activities, swimming and much play time. I love spending time with my boy who seems to be growing up at record speed. Still, there’s much to look forward to as the school year begins and there are a few things in our daily schedule that we have redesigned. Would you like to hear about it?
Well, it’s really two exciting things we’ll be doing quite a bit differently this year. First up, homeschool. Yep. Even before our son came along I had it in my head to homeschool our children. We then became parents, I was overwhelmed and thought “what in the world was I thinking!” We enrolled our son in our church’s academy for preschool and Kindergarten and I was able to use those child-free morning hours for work. Toward the end of Kindergarten it seemed evident that Jack might do better in a homeschool environment and I started to consider it once again. Fast forward to today – we’ve begun and are very excited for our 1st grade homeschooling adventure! We’re going to take it one year at a time and see how it goes. Yay! 😀
Needless to say, those six morning hours I used for work will have to be redistributed to other parts of the day and that will be an adventure in itself. hmmm
The other big redesign to our lives is our moving forward with a second adoption. Many of you have asked about this and I really appreciate your interest & thoughtfulness. You might remember a little more than a year ago we began this process but last December were abruptly halted by Russia’s decision to cease all adoptions by U.S. citizens. We basically put it all on hold and began to pray, trying to decide if we were to stick to being a family of 3 or if we were to go another direction. We’ve now moved forward and restarted the paperwork. There are many challenges and much involved in a process like this, but we’re excited that we might become a family of 4 very soon.
It will be especially necessary for me to continue working as the fees involved in the adoption process are quite high. Our life redesign will be a bit challenging but all for great reasons. At the very least, it will help me become a more disciplined person, right? 😀
Are you a homeschooling parent? I’d love for you to share what you’re doing for curriculum and activities. I’m a newbie and would love to hear of your adventures!
Until next time, thanks for stopping by!
